The Nasery family opened the Khyber Pass Restaurant about 26 years ago after coming to the United States to escape the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
Our History
Our restaurant had its humble beginning as a small restaurant in a shopping center on Convoy. We then moved to a larger site just across the parking lot, and decorated the restaurant to resemble the inside of a cave.
The Afghan Khyber Pass has been under its original ownership for almost 26 years. We have received critical acclaim from every major food reviewer in San Diego. Each dish is authentically prepared from recipes that reach back over many generations. Our mastery of seasonings and spices create our reputation among gourmets as well as those not familiar with Afghan cookery.
